Okoh Urges Nigerians to Keep Hope Alive

Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, the Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has called on Nigerians to keep hope alive in the country and her leaders as a better future awaits.

Okoh made the call while speaking with newsmen at the 2017 Carnival for Christ and Thanksgiving of the Diocese of Abuja on Saturday, with the theme, “The Truth Shall Set You Free.”

According to him, “Nigerians should have hope because things are getting better and anybody who believes in God can never lose hope.”

Expressing optimism that things would get better, the cleric urged Nigerians, especially the church, to continue to believe that God was working in the affairs of the country.

He said, “The essence of the carnival is to build a social bridge in the church to overcome any kind of tension that could arise from political, ethnic and tribal differences.

“That is why we have come to thank God at this carnival and as you can see, people are here to celebrate God’s goodness upon their lives. This is also part of building social bridges in the church.”

Okoh decried the age-long clashes between farmers and herdsmen and called for the education of people to recognise the need to live in peace and harmony with each other.

“People should understand that they need others to live with so that we can build a more stronger and powerful nation,” he advised.
