Church Leaders Worried Over Voter Apathy

Christian youths under the aegis of Professional Christian Youth Leaders’ Forum (PCYLF), Enugu State, on Saturday, raised concern over indifference by youths in obtaining their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

They warned that many youths could become disenfranchised on account of not having the cards in the forthcoming general elections.

Investigations showed that mostly affected are Christian youths who serve in different capacities in churches throughout the state, the group said.

Addressing reporters at the end of its meeting in Enugu, PCYLF called for partnership with the state government to increase the level of awareness throughout the state, so that the youths could obtain cards and participate in the electoral process.

Coordinator of the group, Evang. Emeka Ejim, who read the communiqué of the meeting said, “We are trying to wake them up. That is why we are asking for partnership with the governor of the state to assist us.”
