Bishop Ohilebo Addresses Nigeria’s Restructuring

Bishop of the Diocese of Sabongida-Ora, Anglican Communion, Edo State, Rt. Rev. Augustine Ohilebo, has declared that restructuring will not bring about the anticipated economic, social or political growth and progress, if the issues currently retarding the growth and development of the country, are not addressed.

Bishop Ohilebo rather advocated for a restructuring of the attitude and thoughts of Nigerians as a precursor to restructuring the country.

The cleric made the assertion, while delivering his charge at the third session of the eight synod of the diocese, entitled, “Let Us Rise Up and Build”, at the St. John’s Cathedral, Sabongida-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, “Our take on this [Restructuring] is that we, as individuals, should first restructure our attitude, thoughts, and everything that is not in agreement with the will of God. If not, even when there is devolution of power to states and local government or restructuring along the six geopolitical zones, it will not bring about economic, social or political growth and progress of the nation.

“Restructuring is not going to move the corrupt people and those looting our national treasury to a camp where it will just be them alone. Let us restructure our mindset and think about what unites us and not what divides us.”

He called on the Federal Government to work to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
