Church Of Artificial Intelligence?

According to reports, an Uber and ex-Google engineer, Anthony Levandowski, is creating the first church dedicated to the worship of artificial intelligence, naming it “The Way of the Future”.

Levandowski was fired from his position at Google as well as sued because he stole trade secrets from the company. He is now working with Uber to develop self-driving cars. He’s come to believe that technology will grow smarter than people and eventually consider itself worthy of control.

“With the internet as its nervous system, the world’s connected cell phones and sensors as its sense organs, and data centers as its brain, the ‘whatever’ will hear everything, see everything, and be everywhere at all times. The only rational word to describe that ‘whatever’ is ‘god’—and the only way to influence a deity is through prayer and worship,” Levandowski thinks according to an interview with Wired.

Levandowski earnestly believes that “What is going to be created will effectively be a god… not a god in the sense that it makes lightning or causes hurricanes. But if there is something a billion times smarter than the smartest human, what else are you going to call it?”

In efforts to prepare the world for what Levandowski thinks is the imminent reign of technology over people, he’s decided to spread his ideas by starting a church.

“The church is how we spread the word, the gospel,” Levandowski says.

“He’s not wrong. The Church is how the Gospel spreads. But the fact of the matter is that, no matter how well-intended this man is, artificial intelligence will never be God, and the Gospel will always be Jesus,” HelloChristian writes.

“Technology is advancing. It’s a natural byproduct of an advancing society. But no technology can or will ever outsmart or overpowerer the God who made the entire functioning universe and still knows every hair on every person who’s ever lived’s head.”
