Christmas: Government Declares Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared three days as public holidays to mark the Christmas and New Year Celebrations. The days are Monday, Dec. 25, Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year Day respectively.

This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulralman Dambazau, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Abubakar Magaji.

The minister called on Christians and all Nigerians to use the period to pray for continued growth and development of the country.

Dambazau also called on Nigerians to strengthen their resolve to maintain the country’s peace and unity.

He urged all citizens, both at home and abroad, to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its determination to improve the living standard of the people.
