This year, the Seasoned Apologist Conference, an annual Apologist Conference held in Lagos, Nigeria, will be focused on doing Apologetics to honour the Lord Jesus Christ.
We have observed that as Apologetics becomes increasingly visible in public debates, the classroom, online platforms, and interfaith discussions, one urgent question remains: Are we truly honouring Christ in the way we defend Him?
This conference is designed to call Christians back to Christ-centred, truthful, and humble Apologetics, one that reflects not only the truth of the gospel, but also the character of the Christ we proclaim. It is aimed at reminding believers that defending Christianity is not only about sound arguments but also about reflecting the character and lordship of Christ.
In light of the above, the theme for the Conference is “Honouring Christ in Apologetics.” The theme seeks to address a growing concern within contemporary Christian engagement: the manner in which the faith is defended. The conference will feature two major sessions.
The first, “Apologetics under the Lordship of Christ,” will explore how Apologetics must be practiced with humility, gentleness, and spiritual integrity, warning against pride-driven and combative approaches.
The second session, “Defending the Faith without Distorting the Facts,” will focus on intellectual honesty and careful reasoning in apologetics. It will expose common logical fallacies often used, sometimes unknowingly, by Christians and explain why misrepresentation, exaggeration, and faulty arguments ultimately dishonour Christ.
