Roman Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has called on Christians in Nigeria to pray for peace before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The clergy made the call during his homily at the stage two of the new Cathedral building of the Twelve Apostles, St. Pope Johnpaul II (Papal Ground) Karsana District, Kubwa Express Way, Abuja on Saturday.
According to Onaiyekan, “Let us keep praying for an end to the killings, violence being perpetrated with deadly weapons, or cold indifference. May our homes, our nation, and countries around the world become havens of peace; let us pray to the Lord.
“Let us pray for the grace to see every human being as a child of God, regardless of race, language or culture.”
“Let us pray to the Lord for the strength to teach our children how to resolve differences non-violently and respectfully, and the courage to model it in our own behavior, let us pray to the Lord,” Onaiyekan said.
