Foursquare Tasks Mothers on Nation Building

Foursquare Gospel Church Tasks Mothers on Nation Building

Wife of the General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Olubisi Meduoye, on Sunday called on women to support each other to increase the participation of women in politics.

Meduoye gave the advise during the mothers day celebration at the Cement Branch of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Lagos.

She enjoyed mothers to be prayerful and vigilant toward their children in order to curb the spate of defilement and other social vices in the society.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that women of the Cement Branch of Foursquare Gospel Church chose the occasion of the visit of Meduoye to celebrate its mothers day.

“Women who are called should go into politics, the women should pray and be sure they are called to serve before they join politics, if they are not called, there would be regret.

“Women should support one another in politics to raise credible leaders,” she said.

Meduoye, in a sermon titled, “The Influence of Godly Mothers”, urged mothers to bring up children in the way of God.

“It is mothers’ day, we have a great work in our hands to make sure that we bring up our children rightly,” she said.

Meduoye insisted that the influence of women could rub off on her children, the society and the nation at large.

Parents Urged To Prayerfully Instruct Their Wards

Parents Urged To Prayerfully Instruct Their Wards

Parents, especially mothers have been challenged not to  relent in praying for their wards to become responsible Nigerian citizen by being law abiding and avoiding acts that can easily turn them to social misfits.

Wife of the Vicar, Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Sabon-Gari, Minna, Mrs. Gladys Ijeoma Mgbemena gave the advice in an interview shortly after the 2018 Mothering Sunday Thanksgiving Service.

Mgbemena, who is the Women’s District President, Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild, Diocese of Minna (Anglican Communion), reminded Christian women in particular about their God given responsibility of building the homes, a task they must not fail.

Speaking on the year’s Mothering Sunday service with the theme: “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ”, Gladys Mgbemena, lamented that cases of divorce among Christians is becoming worrisome and emphasized the need for prayers for God’s intervention.

She said christian mothers should learn to persevere to overcome any difficulties in bringing up disciplined children by prayerfully seeking for God’s intervention to keep their homes united instead of opting for divorce which always have negative consequences on their children.

She said, As mothers, let us not relegate our God given role of buiding decent homes for a better society. Building homes with the fear of God will translate into a better society we all will be proud of.”

The Minna District President of Mothers’ Union, however, blamed negative characters common to present day children to social media and peer groups and therefore urged mothers to always be friendly with their children so that they can open up to them when faced with such negative tendencies.

Urging parents to monitor the kind of firms their children watch, what they do on the internet and the kind of friends they keep, the Vicar’s wife said, “As mothers, we must not spare the rod and spoil the child. Be friendly with your children and by so doing you will be able to discover their shortcomings and correct them accordingly.”

Mgbemena said she has learnt to preach the complete word of God not only to her children but the District church on the for them to become better citizens and therefore urged all Christian mothers to resist the temptations of taking up fight against others trying to correct their wards when they go wrong.

Mgbemena ,who made reference various portions of the Bible to back up her message, said, “Children are gifts from God, allow others help you train your children by way of correcting them if they go wrong when you will not be there.”

Cleric To Mothers: Pay Attention to Your Children’s Interests

The Redeemed Christian Church of God Children Pastor, Rekia Eletu, has advised mothers to pay more attention to their children’s areas of strength and interests.

Eletu, also the Provincial Coordinator in charge of Children Church, made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.

She spoke on the sidelines of a Musical Concert of the Lagos Province 15 of RCCG, Okota, Lagos.

The pastor also urged mothers to explore every stage of their children’s life as parents, who get first-hand information on things that make their children happy.

“As a parent, you need to guard against pushing your child in the direction you want because children need encouragement and direction.

“We need to remember that our children’s talents are comprehensive. Some are academically-inclined, while others are more drawn toward creativity and others display leadership qualities early,” she said.

Eletu urged youths not to see the concert as competition, rather they should strive to be a better person.

According to her, “Though it is a competition, we let them to know from the beginning that the competition is not about winning.

“It is about having the spirit of competing because they are winners in God. It’s a time for children to come together to know one another and to display their talents on a God-like platform.

“It’s also to let them know that they can strive to be a better person. The LP 15 has over 100 parishes and in every parish we have a junior and teen church.

“The junior and teen church come together yearly for this concert.”

NAN reports that the winners in each category like dancing, drama, playing of instruments, spoken words and Bible quiz would go home with a Samsung voucher worth N20,000.

The second position in each category would receive N15,000 and third position N10,000 worth of Samsung voucher. In addition, every winner would go home with N5 000 worth of Shoprite voucher.
