Christian Conscience Urges Buhari to End Killings
A non-denominational organisation, Christian Conscience, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to end the incessant killings across the country.
The organization made the request in a statement issued by its National Chairman, Elder Enock Ajiboso.
The group decried the lingering attacks by the Fulani Herdsmen in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa and other parts of the federation. It equally regretted the kidnapping and politically-motivated violence in the land.
The organisation reiterated that a nation could only achieve peaceful co-existence and sustainable economic development in an atmosphere devoid of rancour for the dividends of democracy to trickle down to the citizens.
Describing the killings as avoidable, Ajiboso contended that if necessary steps were taken, including right intelligence gathering and proactive measures, the challenge could have been nipped in the bud.
“When farmers are disturbed from producing agricultural produce due to insecurity and government at all levels is not protecting them, the ultimate result will be shortage of locally produced products as well as unnecessary importation of food items that could easily be grown here, the group added.
On the way forward, the organisation called on the Federal Government to step up efforts in checking the prevailing insecurity.
While commending the government on efforts to curb corrupt tendencies in the polity, the body, however, urged the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to make the anti-graft war holistic.
It also lauded the developmental efforts of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos State.
