Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lagos Mainland, The Rt. Rev. Akinpelu Johnson, has urged Christians to participate fully in the 2019 general elections.

Bishop Johnson made the call on Tuesday while speaking with our correspondent after the New Year service held at the Cathedral Church of St Jude, Ebute Meta, Lagos.

He said: “Christians must participate in the electoral process by offering themselves for service.  In spite of the fact that we refer to politics as a dirty game, Christians should participate to sanitise the system. They should go out and vote, cooperate with INEC in making a credible election possible; most importantly, Christians should not be involved in electoral malpractices.

“We just have to pray, but we can’t just continue to pray without taking action, because faith without work is useless. United we stand, divided we fall. My message to Nigerians is that war is not an option in this coming election, nothing is settled by war, election should never be a do or die affair.

He called on Christians to change their ways in 2019 while hoping that things will get better.
