Ojewunmi Urges Christians to Develop Brotherhood Spirit

Senior Pastor of Gospel Baptist Church (GBC), Orile Iganmu, Lagos, Rev. (Dr.) Samuel Ojewunmi has called on Christians to develop a brotherhood spirit of unity.

Speaking during his 60th birthday in Lagos at the weekend, the cleric decried the absence of love and oneness among Christians in the country.

According to him, “The first thing that I teach my church is that we must first of all look at one another as brothers, it’s  only then we can develop the spirit of brotherhood. When we do this, the first thing that will happen is that we will allay fears of establishing brotherly relationship.”

He called on Christians to go back to the root of the gospel in taking evangelism more seriously and seeing evangelism beyond printing and distribution of tracts.

“Our motive should be that someone who is already born again would aspire to help someone who is in darkness. If we have been doing this, we would have converted the killers, Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen, among others, by our action.

“It is not just enough to gather people together, we should also remember that people are coming together for divergent views.

“If we embark on vigorous evangelism, not just noise-making as many Christians do now, we will meet needs of people who are dying.

“Jesus said there are many souls that are thirsty for the word of God. Some Christians believe that by printing and distributing leaflets (tracts) is the only way to reach unbelievers. Someone who is hungry will not read any leaflets (tracts),” he said.
