As earlier reported, a number of Christian artists received awards during last Sunday’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, including Gospel singer Kirk Franklin, country Gospel singers Joey and Rory Feek, and Chance the Rapper.

In his acceptance speech, Chance said, “Glory be to God. I claim this victory in the name of the Lord!”
Gospel singer Kirk Franklin was awarded for the year’s Best Gospel Album for “Losing My Religion,” and with Best Gospel Performance/Song for “God Provides,” which was performed by Tamela Mann.

The album “Hymns” by Joey and Rory Feek won a Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album.
The award was bittersweet for Rory Feek as his wife and music partner Joey passed away last March from cancer. She was 40.
Rory shared that Joey really wanted to work on an album of hymns and found a way to work on it even while undergoing chemo treatments.
“My wife’s dream was to make a hymns album. She didn’t have the chance to do it until she’d been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, so she’d sing in hotel rooms while she did chemotherapy and radiation,” Rory said.
He also said that Rory told him before she died, “‘Remember, if we win, I’ll know before you will.
