Man Who Killed Church Usher Forgiven by Victim’s Sister
A man who fatally injured a Church usher when he was driving high on drugs has been sentenced to 19 years behind bars. Erik Brandon Randolph, 38, was high when he blacked out and slammed into Steven Curtis Stewart who was waiting for his bus to United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Stewart later died of his injuries, according to the News and Record.
Stewart’s sister, Tamika, says she initially wanted to hate the man who took her brother from them. But she has decided to go the way of forgiveness. “I forgive him because my brother would forgive him,” she said. “I forgive him because my brother wouldn’t hate him … I pray that you will find forgiveness within yourself. I pray that the Lord will help you throughout your problems. I pray that this will be a lesson for everyone sitting in this courtroom. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it.”
