The Lagos Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Wednesday reelected its Executive Committee Members (EXCOs) comprising chairman and secretary, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola and Baba Aladura Elder Dr Israel Akinadewo, for another three years.

The General Assembly of the body also returned the vice chairman, Rev Dr Emmanuel Oguntosin; assistant secretary, Rev Fr. Matthew Ogunyase and Treasurer Bishop Stephen Adegbite.

It said the sterling achievements and quality delivery of the current leadership to the Christian community in Lagos qualified it for a second term in office.

The affirmative election, which held at the Hoarse Memorial Methodist Cathedral Sabo, was supervised by the National Secretary of CAN, Rev Dr Musa Asake.

As soon as Asake called for nominations, Elder Olu Ayopo of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) bloc moved a motion for the unanimous return of the current executives.

He was seconded by Sir Thomas Folu Adekoya, the newly elected President of the Catholic Laities in Nigeria to a wide applause by the impressed assembly.

Asake commended Lagos CAN for displaying high level of maturity and unity.

“This is a model election for others. It is heartwarming that Lagos CAN has shown example in smooth and rancour-free transition. This is how Christian bodies should conduct themselves,” he said.
