Parents Urged To Prayerfully Instruct Their Wards

Parents Urged To Prayerfully Instruct Their Wards

Parents, especially mothers have been challenged not to  relent in praying for their wards to become responsible Nigerian citizen by being law abiding and avoiding acts that can easily turn them to social misfits.

Wife of the Vicar, Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Sabon-Gari, Minna, Mrs. Gladys Ijeoma Mgbemena gave the advice in an interview shortly after the 2018 Mothering Sunday Thanksgiving Service.

Mgbemena, who is the Women’s District President, Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild, Diocese of Minna (Anglican Communion), reminded Christian women in particular about their God given responsibility of building the homes, a task they must not fail.

Speaking on the year’s Mothering Sunday service with the theme: “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ”, Gladys Mgbemena, lamented that cases of divorce among Christians is becoming worrisome and emphasized the need for prayers for God’s intervention.

She said christian mothers should learn to persevere to overcome any difficulties in bringing up disciplined children by prayerfully seeking for God’s intervention to keep their homes united instead of opting for divorce which always have negative consequences on their children.

She said, As mothers, let us not relegate our God given role of buiding decent homes for a better society. Building homes with the fear of God will translate into a better society we all will be proud of.”

The Minna District President of Mothers’ Union, however, blamed negative characters common to present day children to social media and peer groups and therefore urged mothers to always be friendly with their children so that they can open up to them when faced with such negative tendencies.

Urging parents to monitor the kind of firms their children watch, what they do on the internet and the kind of friends they keep, the Vicar’s wife said, “As mothers, we must not spare the rod and spoil the child. Be friendly with your children and by so doing you will be able to discover their shortcomings and correct them accordingly.”

Mgbemena said she has learnt to preach the complete word of God not only to her children but the District church on the for them to become better citizens and therefore urged all Christian mothers to resist the temptations of taking up fight against others trying to correct their wards when they go wrong.

Mgbemena ,who made reference various portions of the Bible to back up her message, said, “Children are gifts from God, allow others help you train your children by way of correcting them if they go wrong when you will not be there.”

Cleric to Couples: Make Christ Central in Your Homes

A cleric has urged Christian couples to make Christ central in their homes by faithfully following the biblical oaths and principles.

Rev. Kayode Olubodun of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ojodu-Abiodun Lagos gave this advice during solemnisation of Holy Matrimony between Olusola Adedoja and Eniola Temitope at the Church premises.

Lamenting the incessant dissolution of marriages rampant especially among young couples, the cleric said most Christian homes are going through ‘hell’ because they have misplaced their priorities.

Olubodun stressed that for any home to survive in a time like this, it must be ready to surrender all its endeavours to Jesus. He also admonished couples to work together in love.

“I challenge you to make your marriage work. Invite Jesus to your home. Work together intimately and avoid comparison. Use your words to lift up one another. Always speak with one voice. Listen to your couple. Love each other. Be good friends. If time permit, eat together” Olubodun said.

The cleric also charged couples to create ample time to pray together against the wiles of the enemy.

Pastor donates kidney to a member of his church in a decision which has likely saved the man’s life. The pastor is giving all the glory to God…

A local pastor has donated a kidney to a member of his church in a decision which has likely saved the man’s life. When pastor Basilio Montez of Holy Ground Baptist Church found out that long-time member of his church Jesus Cerecerez suffered from kidney disease and needed a transplant to survive, he sought the guidance of God.

Montez is convinced that the Lord called him to donate one of his own kidneys to Cerecerez. The pair were a match and the surgery went ahead. “I got my life back and I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for me,” Cerecerez said after the successful operation, according to First Coast News.

Now, the pastor is giving all the glory to God for such an amazing turn of events. “We praise God for everything that God has been doing,” Montez said. “For the healing that he’s been giving us and always for his honor and his glory.”

Court Orders Life Support Withdrawn from Sick Child

A European high court has ruled that a sick child can be taken off of life support, despite his parents’ wishes.
US President Trump, offers his nations support to the child and family.

Ten-month old Charlie Gard was born with an extremely rare disease called infantile onset encephalomyopathic mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, known as MDDS. This disease is so rare that there are only 16 known cases in the entire world.

Since his birth, Charlie Gard has been living in the intensive-care unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. He is unable to breathe without assistance, suffers from seizures, and has severe brain damage.

Little Charlie Gard doesn’t have a very good chance of living, but his parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, were hopeful that a new treatment available in the United States may help him.

However, according to the National Review, the London hospital appealed to the court system to stop further treatment. In April, the High Court ruled in favor of the doctors and against Charlie’s parents.

When the High Court’s decision was appealed, the Appeals Court upheld it. The last court in the case, the European Court of Human Rights, also upheld the initial court’s decision.

Meanwhile the President of the United States Donald Trump, has offered support to the ailing child.

Trump tweeted Monday morning:

“If we can help little , as per our friends in the U.K. and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so.”

According to the CBN News, Trump is not the only global leader speaking out.  On Sunday, the Pope called on the doctors of Charlie Gard to allow his parents to care for him until the end.

Christian Cake Maker Says He and His Family are Receiving Death Threats

The Christian cake shop owner who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding ceremony says he and his family are receiving death threats.

Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado, was thrown into the center of a heated controversy when he refused to make a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding celebration. Phillips cited his religious beliefs as the reason for his refusal.

While Phillips awaits a final verdict from the US highest court, he says he and his family have received death threats.

“In all of this, the threats against me or disparaging comments, the worst part is that I have to answer the phone so they’re not threatening my wife or my daughter when they pick it up,” Phillips told Fox News in an interview. “They don’t wait to see who’s on the phone. You pick up the phone, they’re already talking.”

He added that he tries to protect his employees at the bakery from these harsh and hateful accusations and comments. He became emotional talking of his business and his family.

Although Phillips isn’t often vocal about the threats he receives, but recent threats have been particularly concerning.

One man called to say he knew exactly where the bakery was located and he knew that Phillips’ daughter worked there. He went on to list driving directions to the cakeshop where he said he would murder Phillips and his family.

Some of the comments like one man’s comparison of what Phillips did to Hitler’s atrocities in the Holocaust made Phillips particularly upset since his father served in World War II and even helped liberate a Nazi concentration camp.

Phillips’ attorney, Kristen Waggoner, called the comment “deeply offensive and biased.”

Focus on the Family Founder, James Dobson Celebrates 40 years in Broadcast

James Dobson’s radio show Focus on the Family has for years been a force for nurturing and defending the God-ordained institution of the family and promoting biblical truths worldwide.

James Dobson has been called one of the most influential Evangelical leaders of our time, and for good reason. For the past four decades, Dr. Dobson has devoted his life and ministry to preserving the family. He’s best known for his long-running radio show, “Focus on the Family” and this year celebrates 40 years in broadcasting.

Jim Dobson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1936, the son, grandson and great-grandson of ministers.

At 81, Dobson says he has no plans to retire. He starts each day with 45 minutes on the treadmill before coming here to his office that looks more like a ski chalet – adorned with rustic furniture, family photos and a majestic view of Pike’s Peak. And like Pike’s Peak which towers more than 14,000 feet above Colorado Springs, Dobson says one thing remains paramount over all else – teaching your children to love the Lord.

In honor of Dr. Dobson’s 40th anniversary in broadcasting, Family Talk is launching the Dobson Digital Library. The project brings four decades of tried-and-true, family-centered content to a new generation of families on the worldwide web.
