Anglican Bishop Urges FG To Curb Killings

The Rt Rev. Godwin Robinson, Bishop of Lafia, Anglican Communion, has urged the Federal Government to help curb and stop the incessant killings in some parts of the country.

Robinson made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on the sideline of unveiling the First Session of the Seventh Synod of the Diocese of Lafia, on Sunday in Abuja.

He noted that the theme of the Synod scheduled to hold in June in Masaka, Nasarawa State is titled Rise Up and Walk, and taken from the Book of Acts Chapter 3 Verse 6.

The bishop called on the government to live up to its responsibility and provide security and safety for Nigerians so that the confidence of the populace would be restored.

“There is a sense of insecurity and Nigerians are beginning to feel unsafe. How can we allow things to get to that state?

“There was a time I was visiting a particular part of my diocese for something and it was a security operative, who was telling me that the place is too dangerous to go to.

“I urge the government to secure the lives and property of every citizen regardless of the ethnic group, religious or political affiliation or the other,” he said.

He commended the Nigeria Police Force for curbing the circulation of illegal arms in the country, adding that it was a welcome development.
