God is Always Faithful – Jeremy Lin

God is Always Faithful – Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin is trusting God with his future after a devastating knee injury prematurely ended his NBA season.

Jeremy Lin, who last week was diagnosed with a ruptured patella tendon of the right knee, requiring surgery, took to social media to voice his optimism.

“Gods ALWAYS faithful and in control,” he tweeted.

In a later Instagram post, he thanked those who have supported him throughout his injury.

“THANKS for all the love!! For real I’ve been blown away with the support,” Lin wrote. “The road to recovery starts now…”

Lin ended the post with the hashtag, “#doasyoumayLord.”

Lin entered opening night as the Nets starting point guard and was expected to play a big part in Brooklyn’s season, CBS Sports reported. However, his knee injury ended his 2017-18 campaign before it had a chance to begin

In a statement he Nets announced Lin would be out for the season.

“Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin has been diagnosed with a ruptured patella tendon of the right knee. The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of last night’s game at Indiana. Lin is expected to miss the entire 2017-18 season. Further updates will be made available at a later time.”

Nets General Manager Sean Marks said: “Jeremy worked tremendously hard during the offseason and in training camp and was excited for the prospects of the team this season. We feel awful that the injury will cost him the season, however our entire organization will be there to support Jeremy in every way possible throughout his recovery. Jeremy remains an important part of this team and will continue to contribute in a leadership role.”

As earlier reported, the Christian athlete was sidelined for much of last season due to multiple hamstring injuries. At the time, the athlete shared how he leaned on God while sidelined due to his injuries. According to Lin, God’s taught him a great deal about gratitude and humility through his physical trials.

“Thank you for everyone’s support and prayers! Not gonna lie, this season’s been very painful physically, mentally and emotionally, not being able to battle with my crew night in night out,” Lin wrote on Instagram. “But God’s been teaching me a lot about gratitude for the little things, full surrender of my greatest dreams, humility in service to my teammates and trust in His perfect timing. I’m working extremely hard to get right again … thanks again for the love!”

He later told NBA.com that while sitting on the sidelines has been difficult, he’s found other ways to work on his basketball skills.

“That’s life and I think it’s more how you respond from it,” he said. “I’m given this, so how I can still pour into my teammates and study the game or different things. I know in a lot of ways, a lot of setbacks or things I’ve really not enjoyed have been the most valuable for me in terms of being a learning experience.”

Jeremy Lin Reminds Christians of God’s Sovereignty

As politics and sports continue to collide in the US, Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin has urged Christians to pray that “we would treat each other with grace and love” and offered a reminder of God’s sovereignty saying, “nothing we see or go through is out of God’s control.”

The 20-year-old Christian athlete, who monthly sends emails titled “Jeremy Prayer Requests” to a group of subscribers who want to pray over his requests and send their own, began by saying that he’s thankful for his health, the chance to be a Brooklyn Net, and the fact that he gets to be in the NBA.

“Prayer requests for our team is that we would gel quickly (with many new faces on the team this is important), continue to further cement a culture built on team success and for Jesus to be a big part of our organization (that souls would be saved and disciples would deepen their faith),” he said.

This summer, something that Lin said has “really caught” his attention is how politics and sports are colliding. Over the past several weeks, hundreds of NFL players and athletes from other sports have opted to kneel instead of stand for the U.S. anthem at games, in protest against racial violence in America. The move has been criticized as “disrespecting our country” by many, including President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

“I’m grateful to be able to live in the US and be a part of a democratic nation and I pray that our country would unify instead of divide during this time,” Lin said. “Please pray for those in power to make wise decisions, and that despite our differences, we would treat each other with grace and love. At the end of the day, nothing we see or go through is out of God’s control and that’s a reminder I need to tell myself at times.”

Jeremy Lin also asked for prayer as he recently launched basketball schools in China in hopes of “promoting the game of basketball through great training, pushing the idea of being a student-athlete and sharing my values to the kids playing basketball in China.”

“Please pray that the schools would run smoothly, that the kids would love playing the game and that we would be able to touch and impact lives in a way that changes their character and mindset for life,” he said. “Thanks for all your prayers! It’s crazy, next time I sent out an email the season will have started already…Go Nets!!”

Last month, Lin told the New York Post that in the current “scary” political climate, he’s trying to figure out how to use his platform for good.

“It’s something that’s scary. It’s something that’s very serious. I’m not big into politics, but right now, I really am in terms of learning and trying to figure out how do I use my platform and my voice to take a stand? Because at the end of the day, we see a lot of injustice still, and things aren’t the way we thought they should be in America, or aren’t the way they wish they could be.”

How My Perspective Changed – Jeremy Lin

NBA basketball player Jeremy Lin has revealed that his perspective has been “changed” after a recent trip to Asia, where he, along with Pastor Eugene Cho, walked through one of the red light districts in Bangkok and witnessed firsthand the horrors of human trafficking.

As reported, the 28-year-old guard, who was signed to the Brooklyn Nets last year, recently teamed up with two Asian-based charities, One Day’s Wages, whose objective is to raise awareness regarding girls education, and the Hug Project in Chiang Mai in northwest Thailand.

He recently asked for prayer for himself and a few others ahead of his latest trip to Asia: “I’m praying for an awesome trip where I expand my perspective/view on the world and find convictions from the Holy Spirit on where and with who [sic] to partner with for my foundation,” he wrote in an email to his supporters.

It seems God answered his prayer.

On June 6, Eugene Cho, a pastor and humanitarian leader for One Day’s Wages, posted a photo of himself and Lin on Instagram. In the photo, the two men are seen walking through one of the red light districts in Bangkok where 10,000 sex workers, many of them children, are exploited on a daily basis. Both of their faces express horror at the circumstances surrounding them.

“We’ve been traveling throughout Thailand this past week and learning the various nuances, challenges and complexities around girls’ empowerment … patriarchy, poverty, trafficking, education, government, law enforcement, and the list goes on,” Cho revealed.

“Earlier this week, we walked through one of the red light districts in Bangkok where on any given night, there are 10,000 sex workers. I’ve been here several times before but it’s still as heavy and painful. Many of these sex workers are from rural areas, the hill tribes, and migrants from neigboring [sic] countries.”

The pastor added, “I’m deeply appreciative of Jeremy and his team for joining me this week. Grateful for the various NGOs that hosted us to share their passion and heartaches. Can’t wait to share more as I make my way back home.”

On Twitter, Lin shared Pastor Cho’s photo with the simple caption: “This trip changed my perspective foreal.”

In his Instagram post, Cho expressed admiration for Lin’s willingness to help a hurting world — despite his successful NBA career and busy training schedule.

“We talked about taking a trip together but I honestly didn’t think his team would follow through,” Cho admitted. “Not that I questioned their heart but his schedule is crazy and he’s constantly training. Add my schedule – even without training. But by God’s grace, it happened.”

As reported , Lin donated his game check from the Boston Celtics game on March 17 to One Day’s Wages , and will do the same this upcoming season.

“Millions of girls across the globe are unable to get the education they need to provide for themselves and their families. This is due to unaffordable school fees, forced child marriage, lack of sanitary products when they reach puberty, and many other barriers. My hope is to shed some light on these issues, and invite you to join me in taking action,” Lin wrote on the One Day’s Wages website.
